Francesca & Alexander
Francesca and Alexander met through a shared and mostly unfounded interest in sailing. They married in April at a country house in Hampshire with a hundred and forty people, in the only dry week of a very wet spring.

The dress
Caroline Castigliano builds corsetry the old way, and “Verity” is mikado, a heavy, faintly ribbed silk that holds a fold like paper. Off the shoulder, structured through the body, and entirely unornamented. It is a dress that depends on cut alone, which is why it still looks like this a year later.
Why I’m letting it go
“It was made to be worn in a big room full of people, and it should be in one again.”
Hemmed for a 76mm heel, with 7cm of allowance left. The closer a shoe sits to that height, the less has to be altered.
Mikado holds a fold like paper. It can take a 90 without softening.
The gown is entirely unornamented, so the shoe is allowed to be the one decorated thing.
Same argument, with a bow instead of lace.
Suggestions only. We do not sell shoes and we are not affiliated with any footwear brand.
Reserve a fitting and we will hold this gown off sale for you. Alterations are arranged after purchase, with our tailor, once the gown is yours. We don’t cut a dress that isn’t.
