Oliva & Hugh
Oliva and Hugh met at a party in 2017 that both of them had tried to get out of. They married in May at a house in Yorkshire that had belonged to his family for four generations, with a hundred people, and a staircase that turned out to be the best thing in every photograph.

The dress
Emilia Wickstead approaches bridal the way she approaches everything, as tailoring with better fabric. “Oceania” is duchess satin under embroidered tulle, with a high illusion neck that reads as modesty from a distance and as construction up close. It is a dress designed to be photographed on a staircase, which is exactly where it ended up.
Why I’m letting it go
“I have moved house twice with it and I am not moving it again.”
Hemmed for a 51mm heel, with 6cm of allowance left. The closer a shoe sits to that height, the less has to be altered.
Within a millimetre of the heel this was hemmed for. Nothing to alter.
Two centimetres higher than as cut, which is inside what the hem will forgive on an A-line.
Something blue, and flat, under a skirt with enough volume to hide the drop.
Suggestions only. We do not sell shoes and we are not affiliated with any footwear brand.
Reserve a fitting and we will hold this gown off sale for you. Alterations are arranged after purchase, with our tailor, once the gown is yours. We don’t cut a dress that isn’t.
